T5 drinking oil
Discussion
Just bought a 98 volvo T5 manual and suffering huge oil consumption - like a litre every thousand miles...
No signs of losing it externally but also suspicious that turbo is not boosting properly.
Local volvo dealer has inspected and says theres nothing wrong and "oil consumption at this level is normal for such a high performance engine...!"
Somehow I doubt it...anyone got any suggestions as to what these beasts are known for in this department??
Cheers

I used to have one of these and yes they do drink a fair bit of oil, mine was only 9 months old when i got it, and it would use about 1/2 of a litre every thousand so I would imaging on an older higher milage car this would be higher...
My porker does 1 litre every thousand, on a NEW engine..... and this is apparently well within limits and even documented in the handbook

I had a 98 S V70 T5 Auto. That hardly ever drank any oil. I expected it to drink oil on the same scale as my TVR, but I would have to put maybe 2 pints in every 3/4000 Miles.
Actually, the turbo came in like a sledge hammer, the dump valve wheezed a little and hell broke loose when you floored it
