Does anyone know where I can get a set of chrome bumpers to fit my '79 Taimar?

There is no such thing unless....The chrome bumpers only fit to 72-75 cars with the correct fitting kit. Taimar rear rubber bumpers flex and PULL up to the shell so that they fit flush, chrome bumpers will go on but then need bespoke work to get them to just look OK and real tinsmith work to the get them to right, and THEN any work need to be dressed and chromed to perfection. Front bumpers need to rework the radius on the top outer edge prior to chroming.

I heard somewhere that you could convert Triumph 2000 chrome bumpers to fit but like you say it could all be a lot of work.

The OE units are Mk2 units without the rubber bump strip, but just putting an end plate on (to make it a 1/4 bumper) and then getting them chromed...costs 80.00 plus per corner... IF you can get the porosity in the welding right. BIG job.

Hi,

I fitted my 1980 Taimar with chrome bumpers. Mind you I can weld so that halved the above price. It took a bit of time and as well as the bumpers the glass-fibre needs a bit of strengthening work doing to it.
