Ive read a number of reviews and it seems to do what it says on the tin.. atleast when its being bench tested... but has anyone here got first hand knowledge of its use out and about that will put me off buying the kit next week?

I have one.

For doing timed exposures, or using movement sensor it's very good. Using it as an alternative to the viewfinder it's pretty pants. The instructions are pretty hopeless - obviously written by a drunk dyslexic from some part of asia not yet discovered.

Just to prove it works: Here's one taken with the movement sensor whilst I was down the pub (BTW Sensor is fiddly to use - getting the sensitivity right is tricky - if a cloud comes past you can end up with 30 empty frames)
