Another question, my car displays 'service column lock' on start up. After reading the American Corvette forums my car being a 2001 auto shouldn't have this problem so why the warning? As it's still under warranty, Crownhill will be taking a look soon.
Does it need a new module or a bypass or just 'resetting'?

I have an 02 manual and thankfully haven't had this problem yet. Did you but it new or secondhand and is it a European or US model ? Has someone fitted an aftermarket Column Lock Bypass (CLB) kit ? In any case perhaps something has genuinely gone wrong ? The problems I've heard about in the US are usually only announced by the steering column locking up without warning !

I bought the car used about 3 weeks ago. It is a UK supplied car from West End in 2001. My nearest service centre for the warranty is Crownhill so I'll get them to have a look.

I couldn't make it tomorrow so they're having a look on the 8th.

Hi Guys.

Wayne from Crownhill here, at last Corvettes are on Pistonheads,,,

Just wanted to say, be careful with the service steering lock, the steering lock could lock on, if it does, try reversing, it sometimes releases it.

Guess I'll see you on the 8th..

Hi Wayne,
After unsuccessful purchase attempts with Nigels purple Z28, I sold the Jag and managed to buy a 'vette instead.
See you Monday.

Hello Wayne, I had a new PC delivered an hour after I got back from MK on Monday so I've been setting it up for the last couple of days (OK, playing with it !). The new brakes are fine, good to meet you on Monday.
Regards,
Tristram
