I'm looking for a decent Nascar racing game to play on either the Pc or PS3
I have a decent wheel for both so I'm looking for a game/simulation thats fun to play with exciting close racing, realistic handling and good graphics.
I've played the PS3 demo of Nascar08 which I could only play with the pad but seemed to handle ok although the graphics only seemed average.
I've also heard good things about Nascar2003 for the Pc but have no experience of this game.
Finally I've just seen that Nascar09 has just been released.
So out of Nascar2003, 08 or 09 which one has the best car handling and is the most fun to play?

You'll have trouble trying to find it since the license holder withdrew it from the shelves (long story).

You could try rFactor, there are loads of free Nascar mod add-ons for it both current COT, older cars and Historics..

I would say Rfactor is your best bet, some nice mods, i would rather give birth to an elephant but i know there are alot of mods that are of a high standard (the pits have one i believe)

Or, if you have a good cretid history and over draft, you could always give iRacing a go.

I'd read that the handling was supposed to be an improvement on 08

I'll check out on what's available to go wuth Rfactor

The graphics are god awful, it's stupidly easy, the handling is terrible and the damage is kinda st. Anyway there's a demo if you want to try it.

£8 a month for iracing (an organised subscription racing service) is substantially less than i pay for Sky+, and i race much more than i watch TV.

iRacing offers a ladder into oval racing, but no nascar as such at present. We do know that the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (CTS - the series that John Mickel runs in occasionally) is coming soon, but at present you start out in a legends car in short oval sprint races, and have to work your way into the bigger cars by not wrecking. The 2nd car on the oval ladder is known as a Late Model, which looks like a regular stock car, but has less power and narrower tyres http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwkTDWxuwTg . You can learn a lot about oval racing from it, but as i said, its not NASCAR specific (although Dale Earnhardt Jnr is a member and does run it, more often than youd think!). The usp here is that everything is laser scanned to an incredible level of detail, and whilst there is 1 laser scanned track for rfactor (a great proof of concept for rfactor), its not until youve run both sims that you begin to appreciate the definition of the scan in iracing (its even made some live for speed people praise it, and they dont praise anything that isnt live for speed!wink ). Check it out here http://www.iracing.com and discussion here http://forum.racesimcentral.com/forumdisplay.php?f...

Whilst rfactor is pretty good with an abundance of modifications to turn it into a nascar simulation, Im suprised no one mentioned ARCA Sim Racing, produced by The Sim Factory. They have licensed the gMotor engine that rfactor uses, and have had modifications made to it to enable it to simulate the ARCA series (the series that Scott Speed has been running this year - they basically run NASCAR Cup level (the top level) stock cars from a few years ago. Check out http://www.thesimfactory.com/ and discussion here http://forum.racesimcentral.com/forumdisplay.php?f...

There are plenty of people who still consider nr2003 to be the most complete nascar simulation to date, but as Fourwheeldrift has said, Sierra lost the NASCAR license to Electronic Arts, so youll be hard pressed to find it anywhere. Its got everything a nascar sim needs out of the box, and is still a yardstick within the community.
