Anyone ever used these guys for their TVR.
What to change mine, but want to get a nicer looking exit bore.
Seen some cerbs running thick/wider bores...

is there a recommended bore size for the chimaera.
At the moment I have the exhaust sleeved, so am looking to go with the same set-up.
Cheers

They can be generally pretty pants to be honest.

If you want to change the tailpipes why not get them to change the exit pipes only and retain the original box?

Simple enough for anyone to do.

Powerflow are crap. The stuff they use to build exhausts with is cheap nasty stainless (304-grade), and the box internals are mild steel with a stainless coke can-thickness wrapper. They oxidise rather quick too.

Longlife were good, but I heard a rumour that they had gone a bit down hill too.

Find someone who uses at least 308-grade stainless, and if possible 316. It's more expensive, but worth it.

Going back almost 10 years when i had a Renault 19 16V (hangs head in shame!) and like most 20 year old boys with a hot hatch the exhaust was the first thing to be changed. I used them to make a system and although at the time i thought it was great, i wouldn't use them on something like a TVR.

Maybe things have changed but their approach was to rummage through bits of pipe that they had laying about the place and use any silencer that came to hand. And the workmanship wasn't up to much.

I had a powerflow exhaust fitted to my everyday car, a Corsa and I was more than happy with the quality and the service. Having said that, I've got a JP fitted to my T350 and that is great! I don't think I would fit a powerflow to my tiv!!!

I used them for my Chim but just to remove some of the wading from the backbox. To help people behind me know I'm there. But don't think I'd go there for a full system for the reasons others previously have stated.

I always thought 316 was too brittle

grade 304 is certainly not cheap, and I buy it all the time at work, obviously 316 is dearer, but that grade is generally kept for the marine industry among others as it is non magnetic and has a higher amount of chromium in it.
304 is generally used all over the place, mainly in the food industry, and is certainly not a cheap or crap grade of stainless steel, unless of course someone makes it from a poorer grade then says its 304 or 316 ect.

just my 2p worth.

Before buying my ACT system, I had a quick look at some other exhaust manufactures to gauge price/performace etc against. I have a friend who runs a Magnaflow place and he initally agreed to do a custom Magnaflow exhaust for mine for mates rates but after looking at the setup and the price of the ACT system, he advised me not to go down the custom route unless I had deep pockets! This may also apply for the Powerflow stuff

If you want larger bore tail pipes though, you could simply get some new tail pipe extenders made up. I had a set made by ACT through JP exhausts mostly to extend the exhausts a bit to stop the black carbon buildup forming around them due to the decat. They are slightly bigger bore than standard and made in nice shiney stainless steel so they look pretty good too IMHO. I think you can see them in a couple of pics on my profile if you're interested..!

I had a powerflow exhaust on a MK1 MR2, and whilst it seemed fairly well made, it fitted very very poorly. Sounded ok, and still looked decent after a couple of years though.
