Yet another gamers seat thread....
Discussion
Having scoured the various threads in serach of the ideal seat for GT5 i've come to conlusion that the ready-made solutions out there look impressive, and fold away compactly (especially in the case of the gamerseat) but cost and arm and a leg. I can't justify the expense at the moment and the other half would do a s
t i bet
I am eager to make something relatively simple that i can put out in the front room and then put away again when i am finished. I saw this posted by Hedders a while back :

Now this looks like a great design idea IMO (Hedders if you read this where did you get that image from? Is it an existing product out there ?
)
I was thinking along the same lines as this design, and have it in 2 sections and held together using some sliding rails i have sat here that are used for rack mounting servers. So the pedals etc will slide into the seat area and half the floor space needed. Another possability would be to hinge/pivot it and fold it in two...
Anyway... other than the above idea what have the rest of you budding DIY'ers come up with thats able to be put away when finished, but offers a solid platform for your wheel/pedals?
Cheers !

I've just seen this :

Perhaps this could be a good one. Perhaps if the seating area/platform was a square of mdf with bucket seat bolted on and use copper pipe underneath it in 2 different sizes to slide the pedals/wheel back and forth ? Could lock it off with predrilled holes and a pin perhaps?
Found what looks like a good resource here :

Looks like a good idea and relatively light on construction although not sure on storing it :

wouldnt it be alot easier, getting a real bucket seat, make a simple stand for it to sit in, then make 2 brackets for the pedals and wheel, that detatch
I had been keeping an eye on ebay for some bucket seats for my newfound xbox room (aka - The Loft
) but i couldn't seem to find 'em anywhere!I had given up but the idea of using it as a Games seat has put it back on my mind. I'll see if I can throw some CAD drawings up for a frame a bit later!
I agree with the above.
Took about an hour to set this up.. stick some fancy bits on to cover the "cube up" then it could be easily modified into something to include pedals, a few wingnuts to remove them and you are sorted

Ok here is a rough sketch of another idea. The idea of this one is you have a box where all the parts slide into and can be stored inside by way of a hinged top or something. There is a arm thats secured via a bolt/wingnut that can be adjusted forwards and back, left and right to hold the gear shift. Pedal board will slide into the tunnel (guides will be on the back of the pedal board to stop it moving side to side). Bucket seat will be secured permanently to the top of the lid.
I have missed out the steering wheel portion for now. But i am thinking a similar sort of thing like the pedal board. Something i can slid into the tunnel and lock off ?
