ROAR 08 Treasure Hunt
Discussion
(Mods could you sticky and close this)
Right, the ROAR Treasure Hunt… we're organising it, you can like it or lump it, it’s a bit of fun, not life and death; if you take it too seriously then it’s your loss! First the most important bit there are absolutely no concessions made to the speed and time you take to complete it. You can take all day, you can walk the route, cycle it or take a helicopter if you want we don’t care. The second most important bit is you need a passenger we don’t want you trying to search for answers and not paying due care and attention. Finally you need a camera to take part, preferably digital, but Polaroid and camera phones will work too. What we also need is some way of transferring the images to a laptop so a USB lead or Bluetooth will be needed.
The reason for all this is that the treasure hunt isn’t just about answering a list of questions and riddles that’s so 1980’s! We want to have photographic evidence of your trip…and not just any photographic evidence either. Nope we need photos that will gain Kudos for effort. We will be requesting certain features to be photographed. You could just take photos while sat in your car parked up or you and your passenger could get out and get as close to the feature in the most imaginative way possible. Even better will be both of you in the photo (and not just the photographer's finger) maybe with a mariachi band and pom pom girls in the background...are you getting the point? Other things you might need are means to write with pen, pencil, newspaper cuttings and glue (isn't that for kidnappers?-ed) and something to lean the answer sheet on.
With all of the above considered you are allowed to use all means possible to win the prize; luck, fortune, down right cold blooded treachery and bribery are all acceptable when it comes to winning the prize which is a weekend break, courtesy of our ROAR ’08 hosts, Best Western. What is not acceptable is driving from location to location in a reckless or dangerous manner. Some of the roads we’re sending you on are brilliant fun, but we will take a dim view of any reports of stupidity behind the wheel. Be warned if requested we (the organisers) will cooperate fully with any requests from the Police!
Regards
Iain (and the ROAR 08 team)

No doubt you already know this, and please excuse me if you think I'm telling you to suck eggs.
I have organised a few Treasure hunts over the years and you must notify the local BiB and get permission.
Also, you will need to get an RAC licence to cover you on club insurance.
Not being a kill joy, but don't want you to find yourself in hot water should teh worst happen.
Good luck
Tim
