Had a crisis in the kitchen tonight after attempting a chicken in lime and coconut dish that was dependent on marinade rich with coconut milk.... bloody Morrisons nuts had bugger all milk in. Robbing northern gits mad

Thought coconut milk came from the pulped up flesh, the liquid is the liquer of a coconut

Coconut milk is not the clear liquid in a coconut - that is called coconut water.
Coconut milk is grated and squeezed coconut flesh: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coconut_milk.

You generally have to buy coconut milk, the clear stuff inside is coconut water and isn't what recipes are asking for usually.
