Memory cards - Cheapo Vs. Expensive?
Discussion
The difference is mostly down to speed. The fastest cards will read and write a shed load faster than the slow/cheap ones. It is however, entirely dependent on how fast you camera is... no point in having an Extreme 4 in a D40.
ETA - try doing this with a slow card! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Xp7T6BCv8o

Yep,
There are quite a few options other than Jessop's and Ebay
And most are preferable, if you either don't want to pay well over the odds (Jessop's)
Or
Get ripped off with non genuine cards (Ebay)

Stick with one of the better brands like Sandisk or Lexar. I've even had Sandisk cards go through a washing machine and still function perfectly well afterwards...!

That's what I was wondering. I am new to this photography mallarky and have bought a Nikon D60. I paid £20 for a 2 GB memory card when I bought it. I used it at the Chatsworth Rally Show recently and found I had 408 photos at the end of the day so more storeage is a must for things like the Grand Prix, when I have three days worth to fit in.ETA - try doing this with a slow card! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Xp7T6BCv8o

There's something beautiful about the naive brutality of youtube comments. After that amazing display of the Nikon's frame rate..."who cares, you're pictures still blow you f*cking jerk-off"

- If you have a 6/7/8mp compact recording average compresion jpg's you not going to really need the speed. But you still wouldnt want an el-cheepo alpha-mc-ebay card loosing your fortnights holiday snaps.

Wait, can some one explane why this shop sells for £180 cheeper? I may not be a rocket scientist but somethings not right.
It might have been £200 when it came out, but it's chapeau en croute for supper if anyone can find me that currently for sale for £200. The IV has been out for quite a while, IIIs are £16 on Amazon marketplace, £40 at Calumet. [Zimmer frame]I can remember when 256mb SD cards were £80[/Zimmer frame]

Can't find it for that price but as usual Jessops sell it at almost 4 times the price of most retailers

There must be a reason people shop there.
