Going to build a GTR over the winter.

Hi guys,

After a few months of loitering over various options as far as the next move car wise was. I stumbled upon the GTR. After going up to the factory and going out on the road with Ted my vision was cleared and it was obvious from then on the gtr was the car for me. I've been looking at the LS7 engines due to there long term reliability. Any information or advice would be great, whether it be to do with engines or the build, i.e. what to expect, any difficulties or things people would do differently had they got the chance.

One thing I am interested to get some advice on is where people would recommend interior trimming from? Which companies have people used?

Welcome to the madness. Take it from a guy that just topped 600 miles on my LS7 powered GTR. It is an amazing car with incredible stability even while teaching a Lambo Superladera a lesson.
I'm sure some of the guys on that side of the pond can help direct you on the interior.

Welcome Jack, another victim of the Factory 'Test fright'.

The car you went out in would have had almost no trim which is in line with the 'race car on the road' stance the Factory take.

I have to agree and do not like a full trim look. Having said that I have trimmed my car more than the factory but only by way of carpeting the bare ali panels. This was done purely because I am a lazy barsteward and could no longer face cleaning and polishing the ali.

So, no recommendation just that carpeting is something you could do yourself.

Welcome Jack_w. Out of interest what did mr Ted say it would cost to build your GTR and get it on the road ? best of luck with the build you won't be dissapointed, these cars are totally awesome.

Well he did say people have built them for 30 to 40k however I've done my maths and I think thats a bit low. 40k sounds more like the cost minus an engine.

As far as my interior goes I just want to cut it in leather and get a head liner and some carpet in the car just to make it a bit more luxury inside. I saw a picture of one in the pictures thread which had white leather interior which even had the roll cage trimmed. Anyone know where he got his done?

I think it was his trade but may be wrong.
