OK, so the topic is blatant content misrepresentation - read on if you know anything about Saabs
Just test drove a '97 Saab 2.0 s (intended backup for the Griff over winter). Generally it drove well and drivetrain is solid but if I floor it there's a very slight vibration felt through the wheel. I noticed it in 5th but didn't think to try in other gears.
If it was there all the time I would put it down to wheel balancing, but the fact it only comes on under power made me think it might be more serious. Any idea on possible causes?
It's a manual, done 62k miles.
Cheers

Don't know a great deal, but as the engine has balancer shafts, I would think it is a problem with the driveshafts/linkages.
Is it a 9-3 or a 900? The reason I ask is that the 9-3 is so much better (especially crash performance wise), and the early ones aren't much more.
I am currently considering a 2001 Y plate diesel 9-3 for 9K, but then it does have 90000 on the clock

No worse, Cavalier...
In fairness, the changes that were made somewhere around '96 and then early '98 for the overhaul that made the 900 a 9-3 meant it did become a rather competent product (if not exciting) eventually (so much so that Car magazine declared it a minor miracle how well the 9-3 turned out given its humble origins), but next to the classic 900 that preceded it or the 9000 it will always be the poor relation in the handling and build quality departments. It's the least Saablike Saab out there - but OTOH secondhand prices do tend to reflect that.
