GT Legends- any players out there?

I play GTL with a mate every evening too! Great sim. For those that aren't familiar with it, it has a range of real tracks including Monza, Donington and Spa and a wide variety of cars including Minis, E Types, Elans, 911's and Panteras to name just a few.
It's very realistic and there are plenty of fast and fair drivers to be found on the multiplayer servers.

There's probably a demo that you can download somewhere to try out. Modern 3D games are pretty intensive, especially on the graphics card; but you don't know till you've tried! From memory GTL is a bit heavier on PCs than GTR2 for some bizarre reason (they use the same game engine). If you do download a demo, remember to try reducing the graphic detail or running from the bonnet view, every little helps.
For the record I run both GTR2 and GTL on maximum detail with every single option maxxed out and I'm maxxing my frame rate to equal my refresh rate (75fps), even in heavy rain at night. I have an Intel Core Duo 6600, 2Gb of 800Mhz DDR2 RAM with a liquid cooled Radeon X1950XTX, which isn't exactly state of the art. These games are a few years old now.
Both GTR2 and GTL are fantastic online, it really brings the game alive. There are hot lapping contests as well as races, which are great fun. Yes, some of the guys online don't race very fairly, but if you go in expecting the odd coming together then you won't be dissapointed. By and large the experience is a very positive one. I've had some amazing races online.
If anyone fancies trying it, then just let us know when you're online and I'll join in if I can.

I wonder what the definition of "minimum spec" actually is? I'd hope it was a frame rate of 25fps or above on minimum detail. For the record, before I bought my current PC I had a 750Mhz PII with about as fast a PCI gfx card as you could buy and 512Mb of RAM and the GTL demo ran at about 2fps, and the GTR2 demo was about 15fps.Slipstream77 is more in touch than me with the cost of a decent gaming machine. What would you say SS77? £800 starting point? I know prices have changed considerably since I bought my PC in late 2006. I paid £150 for the 2GB of RAM for instance!! That's probably £50 now.

I reckon a PC capable of running GTL well could be bought for less than £500, probably including a monitor. Then you have to add a wheel, I really reccommend the logitech G25, it has a full manual gearbox and clutch as well as paddle shifters. It can be bought for around £130.

GTL is probably the best out there still, great fun, very rewarding and still looks good enough. Online can be a pain at times, but if you find an empty server and het a few people on, you can have a blast.
Cobra, Elite, Alfa and the Etype are my favourites.

Yep I'm sure £500 would be more than enough as well. As SS77 said, I'd consider the G25 an essential! It really is that good! In reality, a half-decent video card, couple of gig of RAM and a a reasonably fast dual-core are more than enough for GTR2/GTL. The upcoming GTR Evolution should be the update that adds far more intensive graphics

I must confess I actually prefer GTR2 to GTL, although the online racing in GTL is arguably more fun. For me, the most fun I've ever had in a computer game is a GTR2 simulating a 996 GT3 RS at Cadwell Park in the pouring rain. I've spent hours pounding round with a big grin on my face
The ring's awesome in the pouring rain as well. The other day I did two flying laps in the pitch dark and pouring rain in the 996 GT3 RS; absolutely incredible RobM77 said:

Have been blasting the Murcielago R-GT around Donington recently, now that is top fun! Haven't played GTL in a while, but I think I'll have a crack at it next week

I'm running GTL on Vista Home Premium 32Bit with no problems.

You NEED a wheel, opposite lock is no fun without one.
Quite a few of us used to run a GTR league then moved on to GTL and are now running rFactor.
GT Legends was great, but IMHO rFactor raised the bar a few pegs and was developed as an open protocol system so there are literally hundereds of mods that have been produced and many more still in production.

We run a league every Sunday at 9pm, currently in between seasons and will probably be starting 1979 GP series in July or BMW E21's or Caterhams.

Thanks, that sounds great. I still haven't got round to getting RFactor, which I must do. What worries me about mods is their authenticity. It'd be interesting to drive the Caterhams on RFactor though, as I've owned and driven several, and currently race one, so I reckon I could have a fair stab at working out if they're realistic or not. As for the cars I haven't driven (like F1 cars) on mods, I wonder how realistic they are? I'd like to drive something knowing it's how it was in real life.
