I have recorded a short clip of my 4.3Big Valve Chimaera (with engine mods) revving to 7k and wonder what people thought?

Are you sure thats 7k rpm? sounds more like 4 ..

No Indicated marginaly over 7k rpm on tacho though, and i thought they were fairly accuarate

That's great news then! so assuming the 7k reading on my rev counter being only 4k I have a 228MPH TVR

well there's also the little issue of the rev limiter not actually allowing the engine to rev to 7k .. most are 6000/6250 and it didn't sound like it was hitting the limiter anyway. It does sound nice (it's a tvr, they sound blinking fab don't they) but i seriously doubt it's 7k.

interesting back end and radiator on that one .. quite like the flushed rear with no bumper inset to it there's a cerbie owned by a PHer with the same treatment.

I take your point.

I am aware of the standard rev limit settings (I think I've seen a factory limit of 6750 for some cars?).

I thought perhaps the rev limiter had been 'upped' on mine as part of the other works it's had done. The tacho read 7,000 to 7,200 at it's peak.

Perhaps my recording is a bit misleading? as it definitely was revving very fast (as attested by the flock of birds that suddenly took to the air form the nearby field )

I was interested to see the Martini liveried 911 parked up there. I wonder if it is the same 911 as in this clip racing a TVR 4.3????
