Trying to get this to work but even with my firewall (Sygate)turned off my PC still seems to block all the necessary ports. I have checked that the WinXP firewall is also off but still no joy!! Anybody any ideas why my PC is still blocking ports???

Right click on the connection (in network connections) and select properties then click on the advanced tab.

how are you connecting to the net? is it over a lan or anything like that? maybe that could be the reason?

It should just 'work' (not much use I know)

Try removing it, and disable firewall etc before launching.

If it then connects, try enabling firewall once it is running and see what happens.

Can I advise you get 'EMule LSD' instead? It is a tuned version of the above and much faster etc etc!
Google search will find it.

I had a load of problems with this (I still do in fact)

Sometimes it shows OPEN, other times FIREWALLED.

The problem is with your ISP, they assign an IP address to you when you log on (BT's usually 81.x.x.x). Now, this address is often 'translated' into another, different, address at the POP. It's this that can cause the problem. I think.

Anyway - all the stuff you need can be found at www.edonkey2000.com, and follow the links from there.

BTW - It took me a while to work out that you had to click 'Connect' (top left) to connect to e-donkey servers doh!

OnNet should connect everytime!

Good luck!

How to get eDonkey or eMule to work everytime and get results on your PC.

1 - Install eMule/eDonkey
2 - Start eMule/eDonkey, after much gnashing of teeth & it finally works so
3 - Search for Kazaa Lite K++
4 - Download Kazaa Lite K++
5 - click start/settings/control panel
6 - choose eMule/eDonkey and click "Add remove software"
7 - Install Kazaa Lite K++
8 - Start immediate search smug in the knowledge it works first time and gives lots of results and download speeds quicker than 0.05kps and takes less than 6 months to download.

Glad someone else finds that to be the case...

I had such hopes as the content is better but it runs like a pig, in glue, on a cold day, uphill.

no no no, Kazaa's full of spyw....hang on....no it isn't. And it's faster you say? And it works? I almost argued the toss for edonkey but, truth is, it's pain in the ****.

Find one that works and stick with it
