Is is sacrilegious to leave before the end of the race? I will be doing this as work and ferries mean I can't stay to the end. If I'm honest I'm not going because I'm interested in who wins......

I've got to be back in Zeebrugge by 5-ish so most of Sunday will be spent packing and extricating myself from the campsite I guess!

Is anyone else leaving before the end or will I be the only one. I'm in Bleu Sud so am virtually on the road by all accounts.

Had to get back to the train station first year I went in 2000. Was gutted we couldn't stay to watch the end. Didn't find out who won until I got home. Never wanted to repeat that!

Oh, and I was on Karting Nord at the time and even at 3pm the roads were pretty clogged with people trying to get out.

No. Onc year we only found out who won when we bought a paper on the ferry on the way home.

With the amount of crap you're looking to take, I'd start packing at about 3pm Saturday wink

Leaving early is a real pity - although after trying to get out of Parking Blanc last year, I could forgive anyone for trying it.

I had to leave an hour early in 98 - and missed the Toyota GTOne getting binned and McNish in the Porker winning (bu99eration!!)

Also made a mad dash off the parking in 06 - but I do actually enjoy walking down the start / finish straight to watch the presentation.

Safe trip back all the same.

Hi CV,

Some years ago I had to get back on the Sunday for important business on Monday, and it meant leaving 30 minutes before the end of the race, a bummer really. However, I did get straight out of Parking Blanc and away from Le Mans no probs whatsoever, listening to RLM on the way of course, and then blasted to Calais for the Eurotunnel. It took a little over 3 hours of serious speed, and no gendarmes, and I got away from Calais round about 20:00 that evening!

Unfortunately for me it was the year (1999?) that the Toyota GT1 almost won, crashing after hitting someone else's debris 30 minutes before the end. I really liked those motors, with Brundle at the wheel too.
