PS3: dual shock 3 and backward comp...

Righto gamers, I want to get a PS3 to play the new MGS, GT and GTA games. But I would rather have the dual shock 3, and a PS2 compatible console.
Info for the UK is very thin on the ground so does anyone know when these two will come out?
I know in the US and Jap they are selling a MGS4 pack with a 80GB HD, DS3 and software PS2 emulation, any plans for the UK market?

I really dont mind waiting a few months (would rather spend the summer outside!).

DS3 and MGS4 are both out on the 12th of June.

As for PS2 compatibility, will be tricky finding a console that has it and even on the ones where it works it's very sketchy at best.

If we are going to see an upgrade to the PS3, I can't see it being before the xmas time shiny new stuff window around oct/nov time.
Just hang onto your old ps2 or buy a 2nd hander for about fifty quid.

may be sooner than we think. An 80 gig package with mgs4, dualshock 3 and backwards compatibility has just been announced for the US, of course that doesn't mean we'll get it.

How much heavier is it than the normal ps3 pad?

I had a wireless pad for my ps2 but I ended up disabling the vibration because it went though batteries much quicker (didn't recharge like the ps3 one)

I hate the normal controller because it's too light, feels like something out of a xmas cracker. The dual shock feels a lot more substantial and better to use. Battery life about the same as the 360 controller I think.

Be silly not to get it!

Mine arrived yesterday. Its nice to have the feedback again after using the normal sixaxis controller. The new controller is a tad heavier, but nothing too major. I managed to pick mine up off one of the ebay stores, £28 all in when using the £5 ebay voucher.
