New road bike under £500???
Discussion
Hi
I was wondering if someone could offer some advice. I'm thinking of treating myself to a road bike. Haven't really cycled much since I was in my 20's and I'm now 35.
I went to have a look at the weekend and there seems to be a few models around sub £500. The one I was particularly looking at was the Claud Butler San Remo - around the £300 mark. I think this is the 2007 model?
Can anyone offer any advice as I would ideally like something that's going to last me a couple of years before I need to upgrade.
Cheers
Chris

The Boardman bikes are meant to be quite good (at least for Halfrauds), or something in that range such as a Lemond, Trek or Giant.
Alternatively you could go for a sub 500 mile 2nd hand bike that would normally retail at about £800, so you usually get the same frame but better kit such as Shimano 105. But be careful when buying 2nd hand (stolen bikes, Nigerian Western Unions, etc).
