Campsite Power

Was hoping to hook up to the leccy in the campsite, does anyone know the usual connection type for the french supply.

Staying in Tertre Rouge so no official site power but loads of people were running cable last year so there is power on site, just wondered how to tap into it. (Need to keep the beer cold some how!)

Sorry for the blunt reply but I think it will be hard to pick up some electricity on site (unless you are at Houx or tap in to a lamp post).

In Tertre Rouge there are two or three lamp posts with about ten standard French plugs on each.

People generally get down early and blag the plugs for themselves.

However if you go down to Carrefour (or even pre buy on ebay) you can just get a four-way adaptor, then just unplug one of the early birds, plug in your jobbie, plug them in again to your adaptor and Bob's your Aunty Margaret.

All you then need is a standard Euro adaptor and you can plug in a UK extension lead (or just buy French ones).

I got a bloody big French adaptor thingy last year and it works a treat.

Also, there are usually a series of extension leads cris-crossing the site, generally with just one of the sockets in use, usually with another extension lead plugged into it, follow it to the end user, ask if they wouldn't mind you plugging in, offer the customary beer and off you go.

The only things I wouldn't bother with are thermal cut-outs or RCDs, or you'll find your fridge has been off all night due to a power surge.
If you need to protect sensitive electronics, use a surge protected adaptor.

That does help, many thanks!

Sounds like a trip to 'Castorama' to buy some cheap extension leads on arrival when we know how much distance we need. Both cheap and chearful!
