I think you'll be looking at £18.5k-£19k as the actual selling price.

At least the depreciation is relatively ok in comparison with the A3 3.2.

i assume that these might be hard to shift at present with the fuel and tax issues stagnating the whole market?

yep i'm swapping into a 320d as a daily drive, just as diesel prices go through the roof confused

the r32 is a great car but falls between two stools for me too good (and expensive as a daily tool) and not special enough to keep for weekends ...

Good luck - I assume most people are sitting tight ie worried about spending on cars as prices are coming down, job security is a worry, fuel prices are going up, car tax is going up etc etc I would love to buy an R32 but the Discos value is dropping etc so my old merc will have to last a bit longer.

Just a thought in case you are not getting much interest, but an ad that does not have a contact name or a number to call puts me right off.
Fine that email is the way you would prefer to make first contact, just not sure I'd respond to this unless I was desperate for that particluar car. The ads before and after yours may have a name and number so I can call and hopefully get a feel for both the car and the seller.

Just my view - not sure if others share that view.

Good luck with the sale though - looks like a nice one

Your previous post about it being too good and expensive to run as a daily driver, whilst not special enough as a weekend car is the reason imo.
I considered one for my wife and its a lovely car but too heavy on fuel + wrong side of the 225g emmissions bracket which for some reason scares people. In the scheme of things an extra £200 on road tax is hgardly going to break the bank when compared to other running costs. However, people are scared of anything above 225g at the moment.
Good luck with the sale.

I just sold an 1200 mile UK supplied 08 plate DSG but no leather VW dealers didn't even want it part ex allowance against a New B3 was £17.5K sold it to a indepentant for £19.5K in the end all big engine Cars seem to be having a bad time at the moment but I think the R32s are being hit harder than most

If the R32 is screwed, then us A3 3.2 owners are utterly and totally screwed.

Thirsty, emissions/tax, and the fact you can buy a brand new GTI for less which is just as quick.

I was after an R32 but put off by the VED and petrol costs given an Edition 30 GTi would probably feel quicker even if it wasn't !

If you drive either properly....there's not actually that much in it fuel wise.

The GTI is more agile....so it's more involving. But the R32 has more outright ability....in fact it is staggering at times.

Sort of same here - my Mk IV R32 is just a weekend car doing 5k miles pa now.

Vee is spot on - The VED is a drop in the ocean of car running costs. Fuel is the worst by a very very long way. Unless you like S8s, 7 series Beemers etc then depreciation will spank you harder.

Seriously though, how many tanks of fuel do you need to equal one year's VED? 6 or 7?? People need to put things into perspective.

Me? I'm waiting for the price of second hand V8s to drop some more! Sub 20k B7 S4 or Monaro VXR? Yum yum.

Good luck with the sale of the R32. Just be a bit patient & someone will come along who knows a good car when they see one thumbup

That's exactly what I plan to do.

I've got a company hack and whilst we have a Mk IV R32 as well, I'm in the process of buying a ratty diesel runabout which the Mrs can use to commute (and not worry where it gets parked), be transport for the dogs, get used by others as a trolley brake at Tesco etc etc..

But they are just Golfs yet with a bigger engine. Surely you should use em every day and get on with it. Surely the extra fuel costs arent as expensive as running a 2nd car (unless you are doing major miles). Seems strange to keep a Golf as a weekend car.
