I've just watched Seasons and its a tough decision, but I think that Seasons is the better 'movie' of the two, however Roam makes me want to get out and ride a bit more.

Mind you, the last bit in Seasons just makes me giggle like a schoolgirl, and so makes my mind up smile

I'm not really into the whole 'peace, love & freeride movement video's'...

I would like to watch F1rst though, apparently its a better version of Between The Tape.

Hopefully it will be a bit slicker than the Earthed thing.

Earthed are weird now... feel Rankin likes himself a bit too much. Enjoyed the earlier ones but later ones are a bit bleh.

Must admit to liking New World Disorders. Roam is cool tho.

Agreed, trouble is they are right on the ball when it comes up to the last season review...

Although the like of MTBCut & the likes are starting to defeat the object of Earthed.

Yeah... I watched most of Maribor live on mtbcut... excellent use of tech biggrin

I like the Roam/NWDs of this world as the top riders seem to go fooking nuts in them.

NWD has some seriously awesome songs if you like rock/metal too biggrin

Couple of clips from NWD that REALLY make me want to go riding...

Barel - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPaECDit15M

Now you see, I'm the other way around - riding is something quite emotional for me - sometimes I ride to get rid of stress, sometimes to hang out with mates, and then sometimes to prove a point.

The Collective balance a nice combination of a bit of race, a bit of technical riding, and then a crap load of 'just hanging out, shooting the breeze, whilst riding awesome terrain' stuff.

That, for me, with a good sountrack, makes for a movie I can watch over and over.

The Earthed's, whilst when new and about the only decent vids available originally, just seem to be too shouty - not something I can have on in the background.

I want something that makes me itch to get out on the bike. Roam (esp the North Shore/Whistler bit at the start) and Seasons do that.

I guess everyone looks for different things - esp if they're more racy for instance smile

That Barel segment is pretty good, I had him down for a few wins this year. Just a shame he's a Froggy biggrin

Makes me want to go out & ride, still 7 weeks until we're off to the Alps biggrin

Getting close!

slight thread hijack, but relevant....

As a 'newbie' to mountain bikes, I'm looking for any recommendations for DVDs that i should buy/download?

I've enjoyed the Drop-In series' - more a bunch of guys just generally touring around and dicking around on bikes than a load of intricately set-up runs/stunts like on the Collective films.

Personal preference and all, coming from a downhill background, this is a good introduction...

Chainspotting (quite old but blooming brilliant)
New World Disorder 7
New World Disorder 8
Roam
The Collective

And if you're interested in racing...

Between the Tape
Earthed (1-4)
F1rst

Seeing seasons in a Cinema was great, though Roams my favourite of the three, definitely. I might put it on now, actually...

My favourite bit of biking film, perhaps. The bit where the 4 riders are cutting in between and through different lines, then all of a sudden there is this amzing panning shot from another bike, as they hit the massive roller jumps heading down the boneyard, all 4 in the air at once. Superb.

Theres also another couple of shots I abolsutely love in the extras, on the single track section.
Lots of fantastic panning shots with Bearclaw, Shandro, Peat etc, and my favourite kind of riding. No jumps, or special trails, just ripping along sheeptracks and through fields, nailing it with the throttle wide open, mach 10 through the trees. Brilliant.

My other favourite film is Super 8 - its the best of the racing films I've seen, great music, slick editing and really shows the riders at their best. Well worth buying.

It's very close between Roam & Seasons. Roam was the film that pushed me to go from riding forest trails and towpaths with my mates to hitting the Trail Centres, DH and off to the Alps. I could (and sometimes do) just sit for hours watching them just flow down the trails, I don't really want to compete so it appeals.

Seasons IMHO is slower to start, lots of really good bits of riding but it more of a documentary about the life of Pro-riders which is really good, but less appealing. The Fall Section at the end though!!! You can see it in their eyes, the pressure is off and they're just riding for fun. Nailing through Whistler, that bit when they've hoping over a bridge and the last guy just seems to grab a massive dose of anti-grav from nowhere and clears the thing by meters just blew me away. Had to watch it a few times.

I haven’t seen The Collective, but it’s on my LoveFilm list!

You've got my sentiments exactly there smile

I'm still spellbound by the Fall section - although the Whistler section was cleary staged, it was all about having fun.

That, for me, is what riding is all about, and hence why the Collective series rocks for me biggrin

I'm hoping to go and see Seasons at the cinema in Bristol on Friday, so I'll abstain from voting until then!

I also love the first section of Roam, the feel of the surroundings that you get from it is just amazing.
