Anyone use a screen protector on a Canon body? Worthwhile for keeing the LCD scratch-free or, as some other forums seem to suggest, irritating and detrimental to viewing quality?

InvisibleShield seem to be quite good IIRC.

don't buy they popup shade things, they are crap. I used mine for the whole of 1 minute before realising it was no good.

Infact, you know they popup shade things, would you like to buy one? Only used for 1 minute biggrin

I can't think how my screen could become scratched anyway.

The shade looks interesting but of course you'd have to fold it down each time you wanted to look through the VF, so I'd put that in the same category as the Betterware Spoon Rest.

I have been using an old PDA screen protector on my old 400D, it really affects viewing of images so I am not bothering with the new 40D - as someone else said I can't see how it would get scratched as it is always in a case/bag or my hand.

I'd read on an earlier post that these were good: http://www.flaghead.co.uk/pages/digicover-intro.ht...

I managed to scratch my 350D screen frown, so I will be buying one when I upgrade to a 40D smile. Don't know how it happened, but if you happen to have the camera strap around your neck, the screen can be vulnerable due to zips! It's more of a mark than a scratch and doesn't affect viewing the picture - but will affect sale price if I part exchange.

Buy a Nikon?

They come with one pre fitted. Mine's scratched to hell, but then I'm not too precious with my kit. It does soften the image, but it clips off in a split second if you want to check an image.

Would dread to think what the LCD would be like without it!
