Matt

I would not personally go for none genuine ones but I'm sure others will tell you there fine, I don't like the idea of non genuine, just in case they go wrong and ruin the camera.

I have been running 3 non-genuine batteries from 7dayshop in my 350D for about a year. If anything, they last longer than the genuine Canon ones. I've just bought some for my 40D - at £9.99 for 2 you can't go wrong.

I'd agree with that, bought my 350D off the Canon outlet shop last year and I think the original battery was well past its best. It usually runs out after a few hours in the camera.

Bought 3 99p batteries from ebay and they have all been superb, outlasting the Canon one and lasting well beyond my expectations. I've probably just got a bit of a duff Canon one, but wouldn't hesitate buying more non-branded ones.

I totally agree.
Have just bought 2 non-genuine ones for the Canon 40D - initial impressions is they're excellent (and rated with higher capacity than the originals) but at less than 1/4 the Canon price.
My wife has been running non-genuine ones in her Panasonic FZ-7 for a couple of years, and previously I have run non-genuine ones in a Minolta 7D for several years with no problems whatsoever.
Bottom line seems to be that they work just as well (if not better), it's just that for genuine ones you pay anywhere from 2 to 5 times the price!

I've used non Canon 1D batteries and the ones in 10D's. I can't tell the difference in the 1D but the 10D ones got killed (IE wouldn't hold charge) much quicker than the real Canon version. That said the copies lasted about half the time but were a tenth of the cost! I'd buy copies again.

I've bought 2 spares for my Panasonic from 7dayshop and they've been fine. Seem to last a little longer than the genuine one too.

Thanks for this.

I tried fleaBay - got sent a dud battery, they lost it when I sent it back, haven't sent a replacement yet - they might yet redeem themselves but I'm not holding my breath. So I've just tried 7dayshop on your recommendation. It's a good price and one fifth the cost Nikon want for the "genuine" article...

I've been using a Jessops (I was short of time! redface ) spare for the 20D for over a year now and I can't honestly tell the difference.
