Sweet, we've got BC pencilled in for '09. It's back to Morzine/les Gets in July this year.

Have you bought a package trip or going Indi? We were thinking of booking with ticket2ride and flying with Zoom because they're cheap and my local airport (Cardiff) is their UK base, but any opinion / advice gratefully received

As for Commie's being 'cool', I suppose they are in a geeky kinda way. Cove's I think you'll find are the Bad-boy Cool kidswink

Thats exactly how I'm doing it: £390 for the return flight from Cardiff to Vancouver.

I've a mate who used to be a guide out there for Ticket2Ride (email me if you want to get in touch for any advice), and so I'll be staying at his for next to nothing for the two weeks...

Hopefully he'll know all the 'secret' trails and push me so my riding improves...

Sounds like I'm on the right track then, ha ha. Post up how you get on, and how Zoom and T2R worked out for you. I'm sure any trip to Whister would be worth a thread!

I really fancy a go on A-line and that Comfortably numb XC trail. 23KM's long, but takes all day! That's gonna be tough.

I'm not actually 'going' with T2R - just my mate used to work for them.

They pay the staff a pittance, as they know every git wants to do the job, and so my mate gave up and left, and got a real job over there. He's just got his VISA the lucky git.

However, I'm even jammier as I'm Canadian and have a Canadian passport hehe which I keep reminding him about...

As to Wildcards: tongue outhehe

ETA: I might do a roadtrip report as I go - I'll be checking into PH each day whilst having a coffee I expect...

Ahhh, teach me to skim read it.

As for T2R paying their staff peanuts. We travelled with Alpinelements last year and it's very much the same story. Bar staff / cleaners / chalet guys we on about £90 a month or something silly like that, obviously they got free bed and board (and a lift pass I think) but with a pint of local lager in Morzine being about £6-8 they weren’t exactly living the high life. Our Chalet guy raised extra cash by bulk buying beers from the supermarket and running an honestly box, 2 Euro's a beer I think. He was a TOP host so you wouldn't begrudge him for it.

The Guides had a pretty ropy deal as well, they got a bit more, maybe £120 a month, but out of that they had to maintain and use their own bikes. Set of Pads £30, £30 a tyre etc etc, take a spill guiding (although legally they weren’t guiding, they were merle a "friend" if we ever got stopped by the Police) and bend a rim, taking the tube and tyre with it and you could lose money that Month.

From what I've been reading, the highest trail (officially) is at about 1100 metres - wonder if the snow is higher than that?
