How's this, enquired about buying a sagaris from classifieds, and got this as a response to " Have you got some better quality photos and can you tell me a bit more about the car please."

Response:

You've only just bought the Tuscan, so do we assume that this possible purchase is for Alison?

"What do you mean what service has it had, its only had the one you tt. You need to see a car if you want to buy it so get of your arse and come for a viewing. Another cyber buyer!"

Is it the silver coloured Sagaris, hope so because I just mailed him too asking him who serviced the car and whether the sale is private or trade as the pictures are not only ste but seem to be in a showroom.

I emailed the guy yesterday, and haven`t had a response. Just as well then really, the guy is really going make people want to go and see it, I think not!
Just out of interest, anyone know why the back defuser is different?

Hi, reading this thread, reminded me of what has happened in the past when trying to sell cars. Could I just kindly ask you guys...why do so many people try and strike a deal before seeing the car...surely if someone liked the car they would come and see it and then try and deal. and no I am not the guy selling the sagaris lol tongue out

My guess is the OH wants rid of it, and hes playing ball so he gets less of an earful but the bloke being the bloke, is secretly plotting against her by scaring off buyers so he keeps the P&J as "nobody wants to buy it love". Not a bad idea really!

...Or maybe he's just a grumpy boots :|

Thats 2 differnt cars. The 2nd pic is of the other development Sag, different back end from mine and differnt again on other press car (purple one),

Plus the tiles on the floor arent the same either...someone either a) hasnt got any pics of their car (unlikely) or b) the car doesnt exist and they are using stock phtos or c) Ummm.....

Thanks for that Claire, that was the reason that i emailed the guy, asking about the rear end and to let me have some more pictures of the car, before setting off to see it.

The Ad just didn`t seem to stack up, extremely low miles, very low price compared to the others in the market at present and a guy seems to have an attitude Hmmm....

As the old saying goes, if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

Part of the propblem IMHO is that the seller is describing the car as 'perfect as new' (according to the post above). Well it obviously isn't. No used car is 'perfect' or 'as new'. It is reasonable for a buyer potentially spending a lot of money to try and establish whether the seller is slightly exaggerating or trying to pull the wool.
I once made a genuine enquiry to a Calibra specialist about two or three of his cars, over the telephone. He didn't want to answer my questions, instead curtly inviting me to go and see them as 'nobody buys a car over the phone'. I told him I wasn't going to travel 120 miles to find out things he could tell me there and then in 5 minutes, and went elsewhere.

I don't think people try and strike a deal before seeing it, they might try and work out what price the seller actually wants to take for it before viewing. If a car is up for 10K but says 'I'm open to offers' does that mean he'll take 9.5K or 9K for it. If your budget is only 9K then you might as well ask as if he wants 9.5K then it'll not only save your time but theres as well. Obviously it still requires a viewing to validate the car but could save you alot of time.

Some people will only accept offers within 50 quid of the asking price after you have driven a 300 hundred mile round trip !!

Hmm I wonder if the Calibra specialist was the shower of S#ite I got my Astra from. Guy there called me a C**T for insisting on having a spare wheel, preferably one of the same size and style as those fitted to the car. Charming people in Grays. Could not recommend them enoughfurious
