Touch Up Paint
Discussion
My dealer has just managed to get me a (very) small pot of touch-up paint from the Factory.
The colour? Nebula Blue
Any guesses how much it cost (including carriage charge)????
clue: I'm
fuming! Not with the dealer you understand, but with TVR - I've just spent £50k on a car that they know is prone to chipping and they're too bloody tight to chuck-in a pot of touch-up!!!!!

Speak to www.rage-extreme.com if you dont like TVR prices, they are the people who supply the paint I think.
Given the quality of the colour and the technology behind it it wasnt ever going to be cheap now was it...
Oh and the paint is prone to chipping because its water based and GRP doesnt give like metal.
That said though TVR should really chuck in a pot...

Check that the colour does not exist already with another make of car.

Anyone know if cosmos blue is a standard colour from another manufacturer. My dealer has put in a request for touch up paint, but thinks I might have to wait many weeks (months) if there isn't a quantity already mixed.

Any decent bodyshop should be able to mix any quantity of a specific colour from the paint code...
Well the autofactors down the road from my old place used to mix up their own paint, £5 for a small tin, any colour you like, they had loads of colour cards which they would match to your car, and even account for fadeing
These little back street places are always worth a try before calling the large plate glass windowed ones

I got a pot of touch-up paint (Crimson starmist) from Webbs Auto's, www.tvrbodyshop.co.uk, they advertise in the Sprint mag.
It was only a 50Ml pot but will last quite a while.

Ok - here is the price I had to pay:
(very small - 8ml) touch-up pot - £31.00
Carriage - £ 7.50
VAT - £ 6.74
Grand
TOTAL - £45.24
That's roughly 5
English Pounds per
chip!!!!!
I suggest that when speccing a new TVR you insist they throw-in a pot of touch-up!!!
Another example of rip-off Britain?

Bl***dy Hell! I got the coloured primer coat and the base coat for mine from TVRBodyshop, resonable large pots for £25 all in.
To be fair Nebula Blue is a very very special paint colour with lots of different coloured flakes in it - not the sort of paint you'll get mixed at Halfords or your local paint shop.
I recall your initial thread praising the colour finish when you first got your Tuscan. IMO dealing with stone chips and minor damage, etc. was always going to be an issue.
While these attention grabbing colours/paint finishes have the WOW factor when new they could well be a liability and frowned on in the secondhand market. You pays your money, etc.

Yes but that works out at £3875 per Litre, just a little expensive.

Yes, but is it any more expensive (relatively speaking) than buying any other paint in such small quantities? That paint has to be bloody expensive.
By the way, I don't anyone should blame TVR that touch up paint wasn't included. If anyone is going to give away extras with a car it will be the dealer, not the manufacturer...
