What are the main mini specialist insurers?

I’ve tried HIC, Graham Sykes and Adrian Flux, not bad prices £236 TPFT for just me or £310 TPFT for me and the misses, but still worth ringing around.

I'll post up a few numbers when I get home, dont have a copy of Mini World/Mag to hand.

I used Hastings Direct when I found the specialists a bit much...

Still with them 7 years later!

I'm with lancaster insurance - through the mini owners club (www.lancaster-ins.co.uk/quick/moc_intro.htm) they came in pretty cheap (£300 all in inc membership of the club with 0 no claims)

Pretty good actually - bought one of those minispares anti-gearbox rod oil leak kits at MITP on saturday, just got to get round to fitting it, as other than that oil leak, nothing's wrong with it (touch wood ).
Means I can get on with the electrics and a new dash when I get some free time

How old are you? I'm paying £130 fully comp through Adrian Flux with zero NCB (it's my 4th car...) That is a "classic" policy with limited milage (3000).

FYI I'm with HIC, paying £109 Fully Comp, all mods declared inc roll cage, unlimited track day cover, third car policy so no NCB, but it includes my other half driving (otherwise it would be £78!)

Have a haggle with them

I’m 25, but had a claim last year for £4000 when that uninsured twat upstairs took the door off the Griff, otherwise I’d be paying a lot less. It is also down as my first car, the Griff is on a classic that policy states I must have another car for everyday use.

Grant, glad to hear the Mini is going well. I’m hoping to take the engine out of mine over the bank holiday to get the gearbox/cam changed and ready for the new head.

Anyone any info on insuring a Fibreglass Mini, such as an FRA. Still haven't got, or got started on the Clubman project as project bedroom refit has to come first but keep thinking of all that rust (or where it used to be before it fell off).FRA complete kit @£1250 according to advert.

Paul,

I've always done best with Adrian Flux with the S Works, I don't know if you know this but just in case, don't forget to tell them you're a SMOC member as they give us a 10% discount.

Best of luck!

Mini insurance can be odd. My partner recenlty renewed her mini insurance. It is a 998 with a stage one and alloys added. The alloys add on £15, nothing unexpected there. Last year the stage on added on nothing as the power is still only about 40bhp - that was with direct line. however, the direct line renewal this year wanted an extra £150 because of them now classing the stage 1 as 'engine modifications resluting in a high performace engine'. They will however insure her for a 400bhp Audi RS6 (she actually phoned and asked!). Then when we inquired further, we found that if we put in a standard 1275 engine, that as it had no 'modifictions' the insurace would go down by over £100!

Annoying. And strange.

She ended up with Fluxie - similar price, but a far better and more open service than the main insurers.
