Last weekend I did the soft top of the Griff with the renovo colour restoration product and I think I must have applied it a bit heavy in places as although it looks better there is a couple of blotches that are darker than the rest. I'm presuming I will have to go over the whole thing again but just thought I would put this post up in case anyone had any recommendations. My understanding is that I go from one side to the other in long brush strokes with minimal product on the brush and try not to go over the same bit twice...I think last time I had too much on the brush on some of the strokes. Ah well live and learn...

Aren't you suppose to give it two coats anyway ? I've just done an old hood and gave it two, looks OK so far, in fact it looks pretty smart - knocked years off it !. Even thinking about giving it a third as I've got loads left !

I just brushed from the center outwards as quickly as I dared overlapping previous strokes. Someone told me that although it looked good when they did it to theirs when they applied the sealant stuff it went back to the washed out black look again ! Haven't done this part yet, got to do it over the weekend.

I did mine with two thin coats and then the waterproof stuff, it looks fine.

I did find the first coat was a little patchy in places (not much, but enough to notice).

Just had a look at the instructions again and it says that one jar is enough to do one average size hood in one coat. I've given it two coats so far and still got half the jar left, the hood would have to be swimming in the stuff to use it all in one go !!

Yes two coats required - make sure 1st coat dry before applying second. The patches & brush marke disappear on the second coat.
Need to get rid of the previous water proofer before applying 1st coat - Renova 'shampoo' or similar.

Works on a Wedge anyway - not sure about curvy cars.

Let me guess - are the darker blotches where the cloth rubs against the fuel tank when it's in the boot?
