Lancaster flypast today

According to the BBC News webs
te, its just a Spitfire, Hurricane, and Dakota from the BBMF, plus a couple of Tornadoes from the current 617 Squadron, no Lanc
It was just on the BBC news now. The reporter seemed to be convinced it was a Lanc doing the flypast. The last surviving veteran pilot from the raid is attending so it would seem odd that a Lanc isn't going to be there. Still it is a 65+yo aircarft so mechanical gremlins do happen I suppose.

My Uncle Stan served in 617 during WW2. He flew in all the major tallboy/grandslam missions against the Germans canals, bridges, viaducts, u boat pens and the mighty Tirpitz. He took part in the first 1000 bomber raid on Berlin but I'm not sure if he actually went on the damn raids but he attended all the 'dambuster' gatherings and services.
I've got an amazing 4ft long squadron photo at home titled 'Goodwill Mission to America'. Basically after the war they donned their white uniforms and did a tour of the states.
He died in the early 90s and is buried at the Squadrons cemetary
RIP Stan

I drove past the bottom of ladybower dam on the way into work this morning and there was a steady stream of people making their way up the valley. There were an awful lot of police about as well. Are plane enthusiasts an unruly bunch?
Is it being streamed live on the BBC website or indeed anywhere else?
I was very tempted to park my car up and call in sick

They're probably afraid that, if the Lancaster doesn't turn up, the enthusiasts will riot. I wonder is there a contingent down from Glasgow?
That makes sense, there were some likely looking individuals which were already on their 2nd flasks of teas at 8am, bloody animals!
Does anyone know if it's going to be streamed live anywhere?

my old boss worked in canada servicing lancs during the war. i could listen to him for hours about the time he spent over there!
Lanc and Dak have just flown over my office in Lincoln a couple of times, so I guess they are doing some circuits before heading off to Derbyshire.
Always a pleasure to hear the sound of merlin's overhead, and living in Lincolnshire I'm lucky enough to get the oportunity fairly regularly.
