Help! I think I'm being watched. Can I ask them?
Discussion
On and off over the last couple of weeks a car has been parked up either opposite or slightly up the road from my house.
Sat inside is a man making notes on an A4 pad on his lap. He sits, and he watches.
It may be nothing to do with me whatsoever but now that I've got it in my head that it might be, it's bugging me (a lot).
To colour the picture a little more; I have a TVR and it is noisy
. I also have some neighbours that (to put it nicely) have a lot of time on their hands and, judging by some of the looks as I drive past, they don't quite share my enthusiasm for the V8 engine. I set off for work at 08.45 so a noisy car shouldn't be classed as too anti-social at that hour, or should it?
My worry is that someone has complained to the local authority and now they're spying on me. A bit like that thing the other week with the woman being monitored on her school run. You know 'Target 1 entered school at 08.49 hrs', 'target 1 parked in Wysteria Drive @ 08.46hrs' etc.

My question is: If it continues, am I within my rights to ask him if he is monitoring me? and if I do, is he obligated to admit that he is and give the reason??
(No 'tin foil hat' and Alien replies required, thank you)

Walk up to him and ask him what his doing. Explain there has been a few break-ins recently, simple as that - report the number plate to the police.
Dont want to worry you but, some burgulars will watch and taregt the emtpty houses when your at work or when you go to bed early etc etc - you know what I mean.

Had a pair of dodgy looking characters sat outside my carpark a few years back.
Seemed to be there all hours.
Called the bib and it turned out it was a pair of the local CID watching the entrance following my flat being burgled.
Which was nice.
Go and speak to the bloke and confront him.

You are within your rights to ask anybody anything you like!I would say ask, it might be investigating somebody else (they won't tell you of course), put your phone on voice record first though. Look at the dealer's name on the plates, also where it was taxed (if they haven't scarpered by then). Take photos if you think it's about you - post them here.

Could just be someone stealing bandwidth from an unprotected wireless network.
DWP investigating someone for benefits fraud ?
Private Investigator after someone for playing away ?
Take his number, report him to the police, let them tap on his window. Can't see it being because of your car TBH. More likely to be something like the above.
