Anyone know the ruling on this?

Car is a 1989, currently has a flipfront without repeaters on the wings, would this be an MOT fail?

My understanding is that if they are present then they have to work...they don't test against the original spec.

its a fail.

they have to have them from 1984 (i think) on.

by 1989 they are a must.

ive known people fail and have to retro fit them to cars that have had non side repeater wings fitted.

They have to be fitted to any car registered fter 1/04/1986 unless the front indicator forms part of a wrap round lamp and they have to be visible from the side (looking from the back) of the car and be E marked.

Slightly different but I never fitted them to my Caterham in 1990 and it passed every MoT until I sold it in 2002
My BMW M3 (E30) was an "F" reg (1989???) and that hadn't got them. Some had and when a daft woman drove into me it caused all sorts of hold ups as the garage got the wrong wing!
