For those who enjoyed the original, Test Drive Unlimited 2 is confirmed.

No real details yet, just a heads up!

Will be interesting to see where the next one is set. Heard rumours that it's going to have offroad vehicles which should be fun smile

Hopefully the servers will be a bit better in the sequel, Xbox servers are still down frown

I'm personally really looking forward to this.

I loved the whole "drive 20 miles without damaging your car" thing in TDU. It's the first racing game I've played that forces you to drive along with the traffic and look for openings to overtake. Good stuff.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first, loved the cars, the island was fantastic. Top game IMO but a +1 on Atari sorting the servers! I play it on PC and it just isn't good enough how often they fall over, although it has been far, far better recently smile

Is there still a lot of cheating going on in the PC version? I started on PC but after getting a 360 never went back as there are no trainers and no cheating going on. Still get idiots ramming you for no reason though.

I don't do any of the online races, I just drive around the map between the single player ones.
I see on the records for events there are cheats at the top, but as for in race, I can't comment.
I like it on the PC, because of the G25 driving

Anyone have any further info regarding the servers being down at the moment?

I'm hoping it wont become a permanent thing, but perhaps Atari (or whoever it may be) were only obliged to provide the servers and support for a certain period after the game was released. Is that likely?

Edit - Did a bit of research - http://forums.eu.atari.com/showthread.php?t=82688 - Seems the servers are down for maintenance. Undefined period. Darn!

Excellent, enjoyed it alot, needs better physics, perhaps and proper simulation mode with cockpit only view, road tyres, etc.

Graphics on the PC need to be better and better optimised.

Servers.

Downloadable content for PC!!!! not in 1 big lump 1 year later!

Get the cars to sound right!!! We all know merc do not make a high pitched engine so why do the big ones sound like it? I was looking forward to the merc rumble but it is a damn hiss!!!

Great idea and not that badly executed, looking forward to it.

My favourite engine sound was the F40 at near idle, lovely burbling noise. Sadly the other Ferraris just didn't do anything sound-wise for me.

Sadly the add on for the PC containing the F40 ruined my version and am yet to re instal it.

It is not difficult, Forza and PGr can get quite close, still a million miles away from reality but they can get close, developers need to understand how big a part the noise is in a driving game, it can ruin it or make it.

The next best development will be in dynamic sounds that are not recorded pitches but a noise that reacts to the engine and enviroment, very difficult and a good few years away but will be the next step towards realisim, i think NetKar have tried it with their crossfade sounds but not that great at the moment.

Loved it on the 360 and still play it sometimes. I even spent hours doing the achievement where you have to drive on every road.

I like the fact that you can just drive around doing what you want. Bit like the GTA of driving games.

yes Yeah the F40 was a peach!
Sounded fairly nice around 7k RPM as well!wink
The Murci sounded glorious as did a few others, but as has been said the big rumbling Merc's were far too tinny to be a bent 8 or bent 12.
If they can provide more content, decent servers, better sound and graphics, it'll be fantastic! thumbup

Very true!
It can certainly be a little unsettling hitting a bump in a tweaked Koenigsegg deep into 5th gear and leaping 50ft into the air! hehe

I liked the sound of the Lambo Muira at high revs. Lovely.

I realy liked doing the car delivery missions in the slower cars. Waiting for overtaking opportunities, planning ahead, making mad dashes. Shame my PC install got currupted.

Will get it on the 360 now I have one.

The Jag XK delivery was a good one driving along the roads at the north of the island giving it some beans on a long straight then having to cool off a bit on the twisty bits. Shame you can't have multiple online profiles on the xbox unlike the PC.

Shame the car itself was a pile of poo!
