Its at Keevil Airfield in Wilts on the 16th June 2008 (20mins off the M4 near Melksham on the A350)

The mornimg is spent of advanced driving techniques...lane change, slalom, control of over/understeer/spins etc and will have a small autotest set up. We will then have a free afternoon on an airfield cicuit all instruction inc.

The chief instructor is the one who runs the Aston Martin days and taught a certain Mr D Craig to drive his Vantage??? I've known him for years, he's also a multi-race winner and multi-Champion and his Company specialises in these days. A similar course is given with a new AM Vantage sales...other AM purchasers are recommeded it at several hundred pounds!

The idea is to provide an intro to trackdays/performance driving at an affordable and safe level. £120. Noise level strictly 100db.
45 cars only.

book in the usual way via the office.

Should be a great day out, loads of safe/useful fun with Rookies in mind...but I'm sure that we could all benefit from a day like this.
if this goes well it will be a permanent feature in our calender.

If it Rains...it'll be even better, so no excuses!

cheers
andy

Nope...but you DO need a Tiv!

Day membership can be obtained either when booking or on the day. £5.
This is a requirement for our Insurance.

Yep i think i'll be up for this Andy,
I hope the instructors like a challenge or at least have access to counselling as I will be taking stickers with arse and elbow written on them.
I assume this is being run under the TVRCC banner, that will keep my insurers happier.
Look forward to seeing you there

Andy

Would love to go, but the only way my car is going to come in under 100dB is with it parked in the carpark with the engine switched off frown

Ya need a lid for this?

And how do you find out what your noise level is until you get up there? Approx' how loud is a Griff with NO cat's in it gonna be?

Or a Chim with no cats and a pair of cherry bombs?

How do they test the noise, ie; at what revs and distance?

If I was you I would go down to Brands when they have a trackday on, they will test it for you.

OK here we go...

to enter, you book via the TVRCC office on 01952 822 126.

NON members need to pay an extra £5 (to cover our Insurance)

Noise is always measured the same, 45 degrees and at 0.5 of a metre.

can be tested at other Trackdays etc or at a centre with a noise meter, like someone to do with Racing...Dulfords...TCS..etc

basically any std TVR should be ok, piped or sportzorts MAY need Track cans if really load (ie a precat with cheerybombs)

tuscans 102
T350 102
Griff/Chim 98
Cerb 100

piped sportszorts (vary)
Griff/Chim 103/4
Cerb 105

if your car is tooo wild it should be OK, thats why we book these more expensive dates. Most TVRs pass unless seriously loud...and you'll know it is.

If above the 100db level you will need track silencers, they coast around £80 and can be sold on ebay for £50+ when done in a couple of years time.
get them at
TVRcarparts
ACT
Austec
TVRPower etc etc

best to get it checked if unsure, but just about every std TVR will pass a 105 easy and most unmolested ones will pass the 100.

you will need a lid and a long sleeved shirt, long trousers.

AND YOUR LICENCE___BOTH PARTS!

cheers

Andy, you don't say at what revs: Redline? Specific number? % of Redline?

Although my Wedge has an ACT sports box, it sounds no different to the factory system I used previously.

Any guidance?

Hi

its 3/4 redline, so around 4500 rpm

wedges are loud (precat) so may need cans.
