Hi all,

My other (better!) half is in the market for a new road bike. She can use a cycle-to-work scheme and is looking around the £500 mark. She is pretty fit (easy boys!) but lives in the Lakes, so needs to be. Her local shop reckon she'll be OK with a compact double chainset but she's wondering about speccing a triple for those nasty lakeland passes.

Thoughts, suggestions and opinions?

Cheers,
Ewen.

Specialized Allez triple chainset version can be had for around £550. Very, very good customer service apparently. I used to have a Triathlete girlfriend who had one- It was a very good ride. ;-)

Get her to have a look at the giant range, www.giant-bicycles.com They do a whole range of ladies spacific road bikes, (some with triples) I'm sure there's a nice road bike and or flat bar racer thet falls into the £450/£500 range.

Apparently the budget has gone up to £1000.

She's looking at a Trek and a Specialized Roubaix (sp?) from her local bike shop.

For £1000, the Planet X Pro Carbon is excellent value and gets great reviews.
