Connection between flexi hose (braided, but I guess that's not esp. relevant) and the caliper (4 pot Hi Spec billet) keeps weeping and I'm not sure how much harder to tighten it up without breaking something. Things feel a bit fragile IYKWIM.

I'm going to get another braided hose and try it anyway (I screwed another caliper onto the hose and it also weeped then, so I think it's the hose leaking/not tight enough).

Any suggestions. How tight? 'pretty tight' or 'don't let the spanner slip or you'll lose you knuckles tight'. Should I try PTFE tape? (I don't think so, but thought I'd ask).

It should be nipped up quite tight, but not to the "sinew-straining trembly-muscle if-this-spanner-slips-I'll-shoot-backwards-20-feet" stage.

PTFE tape is NOT a good idea on brake connections.

Check there's no tiny burrs on the end of the hose that might prevent it bedding into the caliper opening. Also check that there's no grit (even tiny specks) in the caliper that might have the same effect.

Not familiar with this particular caliper but there are 2 common types of fitting.
(1) Flat face banjo type union. If it is weeping across the face of the union check the condition of the sealing washers.
(2) A male taper thread off the flexy into the caliper. If it is weeping up the thread on the taper thread, a suitable liquid thread sealer carefully applied and the correct tightening torque should stop it weeping.

Thanks - it's (2) - a male taper thread (there are banjo type connectors are on the rear FYI).

What is a suitable liquid thread sealer? One of the gasket sealents? I'm worried about bits getting into the pipeworks.

T/.

P.S. The thread size is defintely right.

I have used Loctite 542 in the past. Apply it to the male thread to avoid to much of the stuff getting into the system.
