What do people think of these?

Am looking at cameras around the £200-£250 mark, there are some samples of photo's that have been taken with it on the net and they look pretty good.

Or can I do better for the money?

For £250 quid you can get the FZ18 from Comet.
Reading the reviews, it is one of the few superzoom cameras that has sorted the fringing issues. Most other places sell it for 300+.
I just got one and it is fantastic, but I'm no expert. It takes RAW as well which is uncommon at this level.
Here are a couple of pics I took last week on auto settings. The lizard is through glass and the hippo pic is at 18x zoom (the IS is very good on this)
