Calibration of a HP k850 inkjet
Discussion
Hi Guys,
I'm new to this forum but not to Piston heads, and I've been looking through all the great subjects on here since treating myself to a Nikon D60 about 2 weeks ago.
I've done some searching on here (as well as google) about printer calibration and photoshop. I'll be honest, I'm a bit lost.
I've been sitting down this evening printing out lots of the same shot I took today at the Hertford Heath Car show

but not having much joy in getting proper blacks. They all come out a bit greeny.
Ok my setup:
1. Nikon D60
2. HP Deskjet K850
3. Photoshop CS3
4. HP A3 glossy inkjet photo paper
Now should I leave the images in RGB mode? or convert them to CMYK in photoshop? (does this actually change the print out at all? its a CMYK printer)
I've done lots of messing about with photoshop handling the colour and printer handling the colour with all different profiles but it seems a bit trial and error.
Is there a proper process for this?
Like I say I have done some searching on here and have seen people talking about spyder2 monitor calibration but I think my monitor on my Dell is ok. Its just the printed blacks.
Any help you guys could throw my way would be much appreciated
Stu
