I don't know much about bullet cams - so apologies if this is a dumb question...
Is it possible to get some sort of bullet cam on a lead that plugs into a standard Sony Handycam so that I can record from external car positions onto the camera's tape and record sound from the camera's mic too?

check out these guys.

Bought a couple of cams from them and they work a treat. I think they are PH'ers as well

If you don't have a AV In port?
the camera is a Sony DCR-HC37 with mini DV.
is it possible with this one?

If the camera doesn't have an AV I'm afraid you won't be able to use the Bullet Cam video output.

You need either a Handycam with AV in.... or one of the new solid state recorders.

Again, quite a lot of good info on the fastfilms website.
