Went to watch the footy on Saturday, and celebrated the Chelsea win with a pint or 8, on the way home I wandered into Bike Hut and bought the GF a GT Chucker. Easiest sale the bloke had made as I was in and out of the shop in 10 minutes.
She'll only use it for pottering about on and a bit of park tracks- nothing major.
Was my drunken purchase a good one? Interested to hear from anyone who knows the bike- we pick it up this weekend
Cheers muchly

Buying a bike without riding it?
Would you buy a car without driving it?
I bought a bike without riding it, as I figured it was cheap enough, and I had no basis for comparison. Plus, the local bike shops around here aren't very willing to give test rides.Would you buy a car without driving it?
The last few weeks I have been helping Tinkerbell find a replacement for his beautiful 1999 specialised. We have ridden everything we could get our hands on. Before that I did much the same excersize looking for my new ride. This has shown me that there are some rubbish bikes out there. Even some very expensive bikes from trusted manufacturers have proven less than desirable.
Tinkerbell and I had no difficulty in getting a test ride, most shops were pushing us out the door just to try around the car park, if not they would give us a demo for a weekend. One shop did not lend the bikes out but arranged to meet us at the bike park for an evening of test rides on several bikes.
If you dont get that kind of service then why shop there?

I bought from the internet, which I did kind of regret, since it came damaged. Currently in the process of getting it fixed, and claiming back the money for it. But, I did get the bike I wanted (as far as a 'I like the look of it' way anyway) for the price I wanted.

not yet.....barstewards!We need to do more than ride to the pub and back, and i'd like to have a go at something more challenging than a kerb, so yeah there is a good chance we'll get out there.
