Just wondering if any of you helpful folk out there can offer any advice on a brief trip to France.

We intend to spend just 5 days over there and plan to head initially to Reims to take in the GP circuit and do the Champagne thing in Epernay.

Looking to avoid Autoroutes where possible to try take in some decend roads/scenery (although we'll use them to initially get to Reims). That said, I'd like to try limit driving to 4 hrs per day if possible (for my passenger's sake I should add!)

Can anyone offer any advice on reasonably priced hotels, decent/scenic roads, places to visit, things to beware of etc?

This will be the Chim's first venture abroad. It has been 100% reliable so far in the 4k I've covered but any advice on precautions & spares to take with me would be appreciated...! I have Euro breakdown cover & will probably ditch the spare for some tyre foam (more room for wine). Other than that, any advice much appreciated.

Murky buckets and all that...

First thing I noticed was that alot of the N routes are packed with trucks. As they are mainly single lane in each direction this can be a problem.

Most decent sized towns upwards have lots of Motel's on the outskirts which range from about E30 per night room only.

Have fun. NB: If you end up near Nevers then you might want t6o detour to Magny Cours. When I was there a few weeks ago the circuit was wide open.
