As above really, just would like to know what everyones getting the new grand theft auto on. I'm undecisive and and partly to blame for that fact i now have both consoles. I know the PS3 has full HD (HDMI) and also i have also bought all other titles on the old playstation. But then the XBOX 360 will have the added achievements which will probably make the game last longer. Does anyone know about the online features? Would appreciate any help/comments.

Online will be the same on both. The game will be nigh-on identical on both, it boils down to whichever controller you like best and whether you're interested in any future content for the title, if so then you may want to sway towards the 360 version as it's got 2 confirmed lots of extra content with the first coming in August.

I think I'm going to get it on the PS3 where I get free on-line play, because even though i've had the 360 since launch I still haven't paid for the live subscription, I think it's a rip-off. As has been said both games will probably be identical at first and by the time August comes along I will probably be bored with the game anyway so the extra content won't be of much interest. Won't have to worry about RROD on my PS3 either.

Xbox 360 for me, the LIVE service is miles better than Sony's free offering currently imho and i know several PS3 owners (me included) would would rather pay and have the same sort of online experience with the PS3 as you get with LIVE.It's not exactly expensive either is it?

I guess if the games are identical and the extra downloadable story epidsodes don't matter to you, who you want to play with may be a consideration.

What version are your mates getting? Whatever the people on here say, that's the version I'd get 'cos playing with your mates is going to beat whatever insignificant differences emerge.

FWIW, here's the list of people from on here who will be getting it on the 360 - http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t... Some people have put their PS3 IDs in too.

If you want to play online with the PH crew then get the Xbox!

I'll be getting the Xbox version, the PS3 version won't have my friend list, and I don't like the rear L and R buttons, which in GTA:4 will have to be half pressed for free-aim or fully pressed for auto-aim. For me the Xbox triggers have more spring and travel to them, so I think it will be easier to play the Xbox version.

Xbox live is far more developed and reliable than PSN, I've got both. Once you've been through the shambles of timeouts and non-downloading that is the metal gear demo you'll wish for Live. Have a lot more lag on GT5 then Forza 2 as well. smile

Think i'll be getting it on the xbox then, it was just the ps3 had the advantage of HDMI. Thanks for the help deciding. It will probably take around 3 days to install it on the ps3, fed up of updates every time i turn it on. Cheers.

I'm having the same decision to make and I'm swaying towards the PS3. Main reasons, it's less liable to crash, it should have nicer graphics and I won't have the constant drone of the 360 while I play. I'm not too fussed about the online aspect as I don't think this is going to be any good - they should have made it an MMORPG. I do prefer the 360 controller and I'm wondering about the extra content though scratchchin

..... I'll probably end up getting both rolleyes

Graphical differences from an interview with Sam Houser (The Rockstar head honcho)

"There's a slight difference in the way they look. I think that's to do with really low-level technical stuff that I'm not the guy to explain. The 360 games have a certain look to them; PS3 games have a certain look to them. I like the way [the PS3] renders. There's a certain kind of softness without being blurry -- some warmth to it -- and then there's a certain more clinical element to how the 360 looks. Both have plusses and minuses. As far as I'm concerned, they're neck and neck now."

So that would be pretty much identical then. As for the multiplayer not looking any good? Has someone removed your eyes man?!

Me too, but I think I'm going to get it on the PS3 first and then wait until summer to get it on the 360 for the extra content etc. etc.

I think it's because I had this expectation that you would be able to wander around the city and interact with other players - kind of like the way Test Drive Unlimited works on the 360. As it is, (AFAIK) it's just some kind of set deathmatch style fixed-number-of-player-games, which I don't think will work as a 3rd person game. I think they've copped out TBH.

I'll be happy to be proved wrong however!

I'm also interested to see if there's any difference in loading times.

The free-roam mode should interest you then, ok there won't be random players about, but a group of up to 16 of you can do whatever you like, cruise around in cars, meet up on top of a skyscraper for a fight, or go and play pool.

You clearly have too much money.

Back on topic. If I had both consoles, and a game came out on both that I couldn't decide which console to get it on? I'd get it on the PS3. Why? Because the 360 has many more games, as most are 360 only, so you'll need to bulk up your collection of PS3 games some how... hehe
