Fuel pump not pumping

Hi all, Can any one help. Had the "S" running yesterday when it cut out and wouldn’t run again, checking around noticed the fuel pump wasn't kicking in when turning the ignition was turned on. Checked the fuse that was ok. Run a wire from the battery to the pump and it spins up ok. Rechecked to see if there is power at the fuse holder nothing? Anyone got any ideas,I'm worried I will not get to Chatsworth.

I think I've found the relay in the passager foot well under the dash, is it a small black finned alloy box with six wires with only one live wire (Lucas 12V)

Check the immobiliser circuit is working properly - was the cause of a non-start for me last year.

Had exactly the same problem last year, turned out to be a faulty relay.
On mine it was the yellow one under the passengers foot well

Took the old one to a local motor factor who matched it, think it cost about £2!

The connector by the behind the passenger rear wheel was rotten internally on mine - visually looked OK until undone. Replaced couplier now OK

This sounds like a fuel pump relay problem. The relay you found is the dim/dip module for the headlights, not the fuel pump relay! If I'm correct the yellow relay switches the fuel pump. According to the wiring diagram it gets an ignition swtched 12V on the black wire, wich is earthed by the ECU via the blue/red wire. This closes the relay, thus connecting the red and black/red wire. Red is 12V, black/red goes to the pump. Check all the input/output of the relay and you'll know if it's the relay, connector or immobiliser causing the problem.

Found a pink relay with a yellow spot on the end and it has heat damage at one of the five spades, can anyone confirm this is the fuel pump relay ? By the way Thx you all for your help. I may make Chatsworth after all.

The fuel pump relay on mine is red and the injectors relay is yellow. Mine is a S3 though.

However if you've found a relay with burnt contacts and you've a problem then it has to be worth following that avenue first. The relay is quite expensive from a Ford dealer but there isn't anything that special about it so take it to a motor factor and get them to supply a replacement.

Hi all, Just let you all know I'm sorted. My fuel pump relay is pink and has heat damage but I got it to work for a short period and hopefully I'll be able to source one locally. Cya all at Chatsworth, I'm in the red S1 (A15 COY)

Hi all, Got a new relay at a local motor factors £30 Fixed, now I'm happy and going to Chatsworth on Sunday. Just going to test it by going to work tomorrow. Thx again all you help fellow owners. Special Thx to foxy600 your prize will be a big Kiss from me.
