Air conditioning
Discussion
My 1995 Viper has done 6000 miles and up till recently the air con was working perfectly. Now when I switch to air con the compressor doesnt activate.I am suspicious that a fusible link may have blown when an alarm was fitted.Anyone had this type of experience who knows what it might be.I suspect a fusible link or a lack of refrigerant.Does anyone know which fusible link supplies the compressor.
I only know for a GTS (sorry not had the chance to work much with RT/10s). The ECU works the air con clutch through a circuit, theres a relay and fuse in the main fuse box in the engine bay near the PCM, it should be labeled on the underside of the fuse box lid. If you don't use air con regular the O-rings in the system will eventually fail as the oil in the system lubricates them and helps them seal. (Dodge do not list these O-rings, if you need them, I've found a UK supplier for the whole system). An air con specilist can change your oil / gas for about 100 notes! They can also check system pressure first by using nitrogen.
Thanks for the reply. The only fuse box i can find is in the passenger foot well and there is no fuse for the air conditioning .There appears to be two boxes for engine management in the engine bay which I dont want to touch All I can find in the engine bay is some relays mounted under the heater fan unit and some fusible links incorporated in the wiring on the drivers side of the engine bay.Does anyone know whether the AC is protected by a fuse or a fusible link and where it is or have I missed it somewhere.
