Oops!!

I've just managed to knock the drivers side wing/door mirror clean off my V8S, using nothing more than my arse whilst serviceing her indoors BRM.

It is now hanging by the cable. I've checked the Bible, and if I'm reading it correctly it should simple screw into the door, is this right? If so I'm in trouble because although the thread is visible on the door hole and the mirror, it simply won't screw in.

Am I missing something, or Have I totally broken it?

I had this problem, it turned out the thread had worn and just won't hold. The door was OK, it was the miror thread that had gone.
I'm afraid, I ended up buying a new mirror!!

I think V8S (electric) mirrors are from a Citroen CX - they are still available somewhere, I had a link I'll see if I can find it.

Thanks for the feedback, I've gone for (hopefully) a good second hand part from Brodie.co.uk, run by a very helpful Citroen chap. We think that mine is repairable, so hopefully I can rebuild it with minimal expense.

I'll let you know how I get on.

It might just be my sense of humour, but don't you think you should service " Her Indoors" some where less drafty than up against your car, I just hope the car was in a garage and not on your drive....
