I'm looking for a full suspension bike for my son who's 15 for about £300 but I am struggling to find anything either new or secondhand. I realise it's not a massive ammount of money but I thought I would find something. Has anyone else had this problem or know of a good shop in the worcsestershire area....

A £300 full sus bike will be scrap within 6 months (prob less) if your lad is anything like I was at his age on a bike.

Decent full suspension bikes start at about a grand....get him a hardtail, yours is a false economy.

To be blunt any full sus for that budget is going to be crap. If you buy a secondhand one you'll still have servicing costs on top of the purchase price to get something reliable - Shocks and forks are not fit and forget items despite what some people say.

If it has to be a full sus for around £300 Decathlon would be the place to look. Their huge purchasing power means that they can spec together some amazing bikes for the money.

Their Rockrider 6.0 range offers what is arguably a proper full sus for stupid low money. This is the base model http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/rockrider-6-0-f-sus-... They used to do a 6.3 that was better spec'd and even made it into a few magazines - where it was well received.

For this budget you're better off sticking to a hardtail - check out the Carrera Vulcan in Halfords. Again a proper mountain bike for little money.
