Speedo removal

I have aquired a spare dashboard with the intention of have the 'walnut' (painted) effect on my dashboard restored. I have found someone locally who says he can do it at a reasonable price . In removing all the instruments from the spare dash I noticed that most of the leads had been upplugged but a few cut.

my interest is that the thick grey lead from the speedo has been cut (and it appears to have three cores) and I can see no way of removing it from the speedo, I have pullled, pushed, twisted (very gently) to no avail.

Can anyone tell me have to remove it please, thanks

The wires on the speedo and revcounter can't be removed from the instrument: They have an inline connector on the lead. Unfortunately it looks like your speedo is unserviceable, but maybe it's possible to source the right connector through these people:
