I guess I am lucky as well, because I used to work at a Ferrari garage and have driven most models up to about 1980. The Daytona had a horrendously heavy clutch but was a great cruiser. My favourites (apart from the Daytona) were the 275GTB4, 246 Dino and 250GTO, fastback type, not the flat rear deck type.

No, I've never written a book in my life, although I sometimes bore people stiff by writing long letters! I have been very lucky car-wise, I know, but I suppose being involved in motor sport so long ago started me off, and I can't lose my enthusiasm. Five years as a Ferrari dealer helped too, although the cars I have listed were mine - not the dealership's.
Losing the Daytona in the wet and catching it again was a heart-stopper because I didn't expect it, but to put the record straight I did exactly the same thing again many years later in a 928 and didn't catch it. Not so clever - speed 110 plus and the thing aquaplaned on a fast bend with a 20 foot long puddle in it. Blocked drain apparently. That was a 1/2 mile struggle which ended up denting a wing and breaking an alloy wheel. Not very proud of myself....
Re Godfather status - very kind of you indeed, but I'm afraid it would have to be GodGrandfather!!!
