I was driving the puma the other day and I had to break as a Volvo pulled out in front of me. In the city (when I was turning right) A Saxo VTR went to some length to over take me and nestle in-between me and my friend’s car that I was following.

On the other hand when I’m driving the 166 I just travel in a sedate bubble of perfection.

How about any of you? How are you treated when you’re in your other car?

Yes!!!

Focus, everyone wanted to race, cut me up, held me up in middle lane when inside lane clear... oh yeah, normal.

Seriously though, BMW, everything fine, treated much better!

WITHOUT DOUBT!

I drive a few company cars during the day (XC90's XK8's etc.) and when driving these I think people tend to be a little more curtious and give/get out of the way.

Then I jump back into my VTS and remember my place! biggrin

Yes. Everybody seems to want to have a race when in the Audi S4. When in the Rangy, the traffic in-front seems to magically move out of the way.

Same car - different logo.

If I had my driving school 'top board' on people would overtake and cut in front (near to lights) and brake HARD. Great idea....try to make the inexperienced learner crash into the back of you rolleyes

Take the magnetic sign off and it never happened.

yes yep. I've got an Elise and a BMW for the road. The Elise doesn't seem to bother people too much, but I get road rage quite easily in the BMW. Only this evening I noticed this guy behind me in an MPV was screaming at me in such a rage he'd turned red. I've no idea why, I'd been well aware of what was round me and following the highway code ok. People just hate BMWs; maybe I should get some Vauxhall badges for it? hehe

I've had sports cars, barges, hot hatches, etc and can't say I've ever noticed the behaviour of other road users changing. I think on a normal journey you're bound to come across a few idiots, whatever you drive.

Perhaps the car a person drives affects the way they drive, i.e. maybe people respond to your driving rather than your car?

Flip side to this is :-
Does what somebody else is driving alter your reaction to them?

If it is safe to do so I shall always try to make space for busses, lorries, van drivers and taxis to pull out - I woiuld never make space for a 4X4 or SUV.

yes In the Legacy ('97 silver wagon) I may as well be invisible, even if I'm 'making progress'. The MX5 seems to get a surprising amount of attention for a cheap 19-year old car, most often from boyracer types wanting to prove their WRX is faster than a sportscar (like I don't already know that) or from numpty pedestrians who think I'm speeding because its red. rolleyes

Agreed! I VERY VERY nearly got written off by a taxi last week. He came flying out of a junction at missed me by 2-3 feet. Not a lot really when your both doing 40mph!!

Buses have become my biggest pet hate at the mo!
I understand they are driving something 8x the size of my car but they believe they own the road and always seem to just indicate for a second and pull out regardless!

The ST driver's point of view:

Bloody Rangie drivers, always expect everyone else to move out of their way and tailgate anyone who doesn't comply instantly wink
