Would anyone know if a 1600cc Vixen exhaust system is same as 1600cc M series exhaust ?

Years ago a larger than life Yorkshireman, 'borrowed' my 1600M exhaust, chopped a short length off the tailpipes and fitted it to his Vixen. Shortly afterwards he sold the car to a new owner, I'm still waiting for payment!!

So yes it will fit (however the Vixen it was fitted to was a very late one with an M series chassis)

No the Vixen is Different.... manifold, down pipe and system with single tailpipe (the 2500M system is the same but with twin tailpipes) Adrian@

While on the subject, who makes the best system for the vixen or is the centre box from another vehicle with the front / tail pipes custom made to attach?

Should stainless boxes be avoided due to 'booming' after a while?

Alun, These days the systems are built with no filling and the baffles are placed within the box to divert the sound, as I say the 2500M is the same system, 1 main box and a smaller box, these get split by the chassis tube across the front of the diff, with 2 different manifolds over the years the down pipe that joins these 2 can be different (2 version and this is denoted by steel or alloy gearbox cross-member) out of the system the 1600 has a single tailpipe, but the as the 2500M has a splitter and twin tailpipe you could do the same. It is worth noting that the OE design is to have a hanging system...IMHO the rear most bracket/bush should be under compression, this will help to stop the weight breaking the manifolds through vibration/stress.

Thanks again Adrian, its just that there is a vixen exhaust system and manifold on FleaBay at the moment, as its stainless and practically on my doorstep, I thought it might be good investment.
My system on 1600M is only mild steel and I thought it might good upgrade or just to save for future.
Alun.

Hi Alun,
Now you say...is a 2500M system from down pipe back, so will need a different down pipe creating.

Edited to say.... perhaps we should keep that bit a bit hush hush!

Alun,

You cant really see from this photo, but I had my exhaust made so that it half tucked up inside the chassis.

It did improve ground clearance.
