Best place to get a small pot of touch up for imperial blue ? Went to halfords and no joy - I know its a ford colour but did they call it imperial blue or was that just a TVR name for it ? If I pop into my local ford dealer and ask for a pot of imperial blue touch up will they know what I'm talking about ?

Cheers

ETA: Just did a bit of digging around, seems that ford made imperial blue in at least 3 different shades. I bet TVR just had the one code that covered all the different versions. This explains why when I had my wing mirror sprayed they couldnt get an exact match, they must have had one of the other shades of imperial blue.

Contact Gerbil on here, he did most TVRs paint mixes, he has a place in Lancashire, someone on here will have his number. Try this thread. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Hey, if you do find out would you let me know as my car doesn't even have the paint code plaque on it but looks identical to yours!

Cheers.

These guys did some for me. Just type in the paint colour and model when you order, cheap and fast delivery as well.

May be a bit far for you, but there is a small operation in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire
that I have used that will mix the paint to match your car.

I took my Imperial Blue Chimaera round there and the two ladies concerned came out and checked the colour with swatches and said then that there were three imperial blues.

They smeared water over the bodywork and checked the colour match ( no idea why, but they appeared to know exactly what they were doing )

Then mixed up the volume of paint I wanted for the next day, to match my car exactly.
I make this point because the paintwork was 8 years old at the time and probably faded / changed since it was new.

Excellent service, good value and a perfect colour match.

Sounds a bit extreme just for a touch up pen hehe

At least now I know there are 3 different shades next time I get some paintwork done we should be able to get a close match !

I could help narrow it down to two options for you.

I know the colour of my car, and it's different to yours, so that leaves the other two Imperial Blues.

The chips away guy who did mine said that it wasn't Ford Imperial Blue, TVR had an additional flip put into it. I think it has red and gold in it as well or something. Anyway, if you ask for TVR Imperial Blue then it seems to match well. Both of my touch up pots have done anyway.
